The future is bright if telcos can first weather the Covid19 storm
A new industry report has suggested that the global telecoms industry will learn valuable lessons from the real world applications of the Covid19 pandemic
While the Covid19 pandemic is having a profound effect on the global telecoms industry, brighter times could be just around the corner, according to a new industry report.
A new report issued by global data, claims that the industry will be made more resilient by its experience with Covid19, and that it will emerge stronger for the experience.
Millions of people around the world are being forced to work from home by the Covid19 epidemic, placing huge demand on the capacity of telecoms networks.
“Telcos networks will have gained first hand experience in dynamic network traffic management while businesses and their telco partners will have a better understanding of the challenges of homeworking,” said Sapna Maheira, practice head of thematic research at Global Data.
In a post Covid19 environment, many health related use cases for 5G will have received huge real world justification and so investment cases will be made easier for telcos.
“The need for robotic health workers biometric virus predictors and AI health management tools will provide new use cases and investment justifications for 5G. The situation will provide a shot in the arm for telco innovation around AI and machine learning and a catalyst for app and solution innovation ecosystems,” Maheira added.
