Batelco partners with Nokia to deliver cloud connectivity

NOKIA SUBSIDIARY Nuage Net¬works announced yesterday that it had struck a deal with Bahrain’s digital service provider Batelco.

The operator chose Nuage’s SD-WAN 2.0 solution to support cloud connectivity, automation and digital transformation services for enterprise customers both within its kingdom and abroad. Batelco plans to complement its existing business services by providing customers with streamlined internet of things (IoT) apps and cloud support.

Nuage’s SD-WAN 2.0 will enable Batelco’s enterprise customers to reduce IT admin costs by managing their corporate networks — inclusive of branches, data centres, and the public cloud — using a unified dashboard. The single interface will allow customers to manage functions like user access, security and quality, and performance parameters across the whole network.

The deal between the two parties is said to help the DX efforts of the telco’s regional enterprise customers in the banking, healthcare, education, hospitality, transportation and energy sectors.

“The SD-WAN 2.0 will provide Batelco with a powerful platform for offering advanced digital services to support cloud connectivity, automation and network segmentation while eliminating the boundaries imposed by the underlying connectivity technologies,” Nuage’s CEO Sunil Khandekar.

Batelco’s enterprise general manager Abderrahmane Mounir also added, “Our enterprise customers are pursuing digitalisation...The Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution will enable us to cost effectively support them with an agile, open and cloud-based network service.” MANAGEENGINE has announced the general availability of enterprise service management (ESM) capabili-ties in the on-premise version of its flagship product ServiceDesk Plus at GITEX Technology Week.

GITEX has helped the vendor understand local market nuances as well as increase its reach and vis¬ibility. “GITEX [is] a heavily attended platform [and] having a major pres¬ence is of strategic importance to us not just in 2019, but also in the years to come,” added Ganesan.
