Startups in italy are excelling  in the technology sector and breaking typecast often associated with Italian businesses.

“There is a stereotype that Italy is known for fashion, design and automobiles. But we have a very high tech start up ecosystem, and we are pushing for these companies to be known and accepted all over the world,” Gianpaolo Bruno,the Italian trade commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan. The Italian Trade Agency, which is the promotional arm of the Italian government, is representing 11 startups from the European nation at GITEX Technology Week. The ITA is attending the show to help its SMEs gain foothold in the local market. “In recent years the Italian startup ecosystem has grown a lot, partly thanks to the incentives from the Italian government,”Bruno.

The startups fall under several different sectors, including tech education, sustainability and fintech. “The UAE is investing in future development such as sustainability, blockchain and e-commerce and medicine, we have many small companies but are extremely competitive in this market,” said Bruno.
