Iris brings scanning products back for 15th year

Our mission is to help organisations go paperless, said Fabribeckers.

Gitex, Gitex Technology Week

Iris , the scanner manufacture owned by Canon, is back at GITEX Technology Week, continuing a 15 year tradition. “This year is good for us as we are launching a new book scanner for A3 and A4. The new scanner now includes Arabic recognition, targeted at the banking and insurance industries,” said Bernard de Fabribeckers, sales director, IRIS.

“We are also launching a new Arabic-capable OCR software that is built-in with our scanners or incorporated in our OCR SDKs. This software is designed to support companies in the region to scan, digitise and classify documents,” said Fabribeckers.

IRIS is also launching a new service this year called IRIS Smart Security which can identify ID cards fromthe UAE and around the world. The vendor is also launching IRIS Smart security for passports, a software that is compatible with any scanner to scan passports and extract the metadata. As the UAE pursues a paperless strategy, IRIS can help, said Fabribeckers. “We are very happy to see that the UAE is going full speed towards paperless-this is our bread and butter,” he added.
