MWC 2020 is officially called off due to health concerns

With this past week seeing the likes of LG, Sony and several others back out of MWC out of concern for the safety of its employees and exhibitors, the GSMA have cancelled the world's biggest phone technology event.

John Hoffman, CEO GSMA Limited issued a statement over the decision.

"With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event."

The GSMA represents over 1,200 companies in the mobile industry and a lack of the MWC this year means it will affect several thousands. As of now the GSMA have confirmed that it will continue to be working in unison and supporting partners for MWC Barcelona 2021.
