ON.DXB to discuss the regional gaming sector
From gaming developers to industry talks, On.DXB wants to make its mark in the gaming entertainment sector
This weekend, international brands, regional industry figures will look at the region's gaming sectorat the inaugural ON.DXB, the ground-breaking film, game, video and music seminary event held on November 21-23 at Dubai Studio City – Sound Stages.
On Thursday, November 21, Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG Mobile, Tencent Games and Jim Liu, lecturer at Tencent Institute of Games, will be joined by Rafed Salem, head of localisation at Riot Games, and HC Lim, Assistant Professor, UOWD for ‘The Future of the Gaming Industry’, a panel discussion moderated by Tom Wijman, senior games market analyst at Newzoo, on the Sessions State at 5pm.
Habib Chams, founder of Dubai’s Digital Games Conference will be on the Sessions Stage for a ‘Gaming: From Art to Business’ panel alongside representatives from Gameloft, Tentacle Gaming, Shanab Games and Red Thumbs. Mjrm Games, the Saudi gaming youtuber will head to the Circle Stage for an‘In Conversation With’ session at 1.30pm.
Staying on the Sessions Stage, Reine Abbas, a video game developer and COO and co-founder of Wixel Studios, will conduct a must-see inspirational solo talk on how ‘Success Won’t Find You, You Need to Go and Earn It’.
In the late afternoon, Karim Ibrahim, CEO of Robocom VR, the tech solutions company specialising in Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, will discuss ‘The Evolution of Gaming’ at 5pm on the Alfan Showcase Stage.
At the same time in ON_CINEMA in The Festival Square, the evolution of the gaming as a mainstream industry will be underlined with a screening of DanTDM Presents: The Contest, an interactive in-cinema event starring gaming youtuber DanTDM, followed by a Q&A with Tom Greenwood Mears, the film’s producer and managing director of Cut and Mustard.
Earlier in the day, emerging indie gamers selected from the ON.DXB Call For Content will seek to win prizes designed to accelerate their ideas, creative work and careers by pitching to judges from 11am until 1pm at the Alfan Showcase Stage.
The three-day ON.DXB schedule features international talent and regional industry leaders in the Industry Arena, where a three-day pass costs AED 950 which grants access to the keynotes, panel discussions, pitches, workshops and live performances.
