Batelco gets Cisco school

Bahraini telco Batelco is to set up a Cisco networking academy at its training centre in Hamala.

Bahraini telco Batelco is to set up a Cisco networking academy at its training centre in Hamala.

Cisco, Batelco and the Bahrain Training Institute (BTI) have signed a joint agreement to establish the academy, and BTI, a Cisco regional academy, will work with Batelco to construct the facility.

The academy would teach students how to design, build and maintain computer networks, rewarding them with the Cisco Certified Network Associate qualification at the end of the course, the trio said.

Batelco human resources manager Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa said the academy would benefit “hundreds of trainees each year”.

Cisco’s recently appointed country manager for the north gulf Tarek Ghoul commented: “Batelco jointly with BTI is extending a great opportunity to Bahrain’s youth and I believe that with such initiatives, great positive outcomes can be made on the levels of IT skills and training in the Kingdom.”
