IP telephony platform leads Avaya SMB push

Avaya is looking to increase its reach into the small and medium-sized business (SMB) sector with the launch of its latest internet protocol (IP) telephony platform.

Avaya is looking to increase its reach into the small and medium-sized business (SMB) sector with the launch of its latest internet protocol (IP) telephony platform.

The networking firm this month took the wraps off Release 4.0 of its IP Office software suite, as well as its IP Office 500 server, both of which it claimed have been tailored with SMB customers in mind.

“We created Avaya IP Office specifically for small businesses,” said Roger El-Tawil, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) channel and marketing director at Avaya. “It has the right entry-level price, is affordable, has ‘big business’ communications capabilities, and options for companies to add more capabilities, capacities or locations as their business grows,” he added.

Key features in the new platform include remote diagnostic tools, multi-site hot-desking capabilities and conferencing support for up to 64 parties.

Emrill Services, which provides property and asset management services to Dubai Festival City (DFC) and Emaar Properties, is using IP Office to support its call centre operation. Pascal Rabboni, IT coordinator at Emrill Services, said its implementation was handling up to 700 customer calls a day, taken by 12 agents, at a cost of under US$14,000.
