Middle East retailer Kamal Osman Jamjoom (KOJ) has picked Enabler Wipro to implement an Oracle solution that will underpin the group's ambitious expansion plans. The project will involve the implementation of several Oracle retail and e-business suite modules.

Thameem Rizvon, group IT manager at KOJ, said: "We have decided on the acronym SMART as the programme name to implement Oracle at KOJ, which stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time bound. To support the ambitious plans of KOJ to open a new store everyday, it was imperative that the Oracle implementer must be a strategic partner, who should understand and support us in our aggressive growth into new markets in a profitable manner."

"This is the reason we selected Wipro Enabler, apart from their strength in implementing Oracle retail with global retailers and their strengths in IT Infrastructure and large scale project implementations," Rizvon added.

Antsnio Murta, Enabler Wipro VP retail services, said: "Our vision for the KOJ project is as a business transformation programme and not just an IT project. We are able to bring KOJ best-in-class business processes and effective change management throughout the programme."

KOJ has 350 retail outlets spanning Saudi, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. The company hopes that new solution will offer a scalable, multinational, retail centric system, which will assist in expanding the operation outside existing markets.

KOJ's own brand retail chains include Mikyajy and Nayomi. The 1,500-strong firm also represents The Body Shop in the western part of Saudi Arabia. Enabler Wipro is planning a phased implementation designed to deliver benefits to KOJ while minimising business risks.
