Business intelligence (BI) vendor Business Objects has launched products targeting mid-sized firms.

The introduction of the vendor’s Crystal Decisions Standard Edition line is the first of a suite of products from the firm aimed at addressing the BI needs of medium-sized businesses.

The company said the standard edition, released last week, was designed to introduce businesses to the benefits of intelligent reporting, query, analysis and dashboards. It said additional solutions that incorporated functionality for data integration and performance management were scheduled for launch throughout 2007.

The vendor is also planning to roll out a number of programmes intended to expand the opportunities for partners in the mid-market space.

Business Objects said its focus on the mid-market was in response to a “significant” increase it had seen in the use of BI software by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
