HANNspree unveiled as maiden vendor for new Empa and MTC retail entity
LCD TV vendor HANNspree becomes first major vendor to sign up with joint venture company set up by distribution pair Empa and MTC to address growing retail market
Newly created retail distribution entity e-retail - formed as a joint venture company by wholesalers Empa and Memory Technology Corporation (MTC) - has announced LCD TV vendor HANNspree as its first major vendor signing.
e-retail has become the exclusive distributor for Taiwan-based HANNSpree's products in the Middle East and North Africa, with the exception of Saudi Arabia.
"e-retail will offer a wide range of consumer electronics and IT products for customers, including brands such as HANNspree which present a totally new and refreshing concept in product design," said Rahb Hamidaddin, president at Empa Middle East. "We foresee huge demand in the regional markets for HANNspree LCD TVs which are bound to appeal to all consumer segments with their intriguing design and features," he added.
It is also possible that e-retail will establish HANNspree-only retail outlets, similar to the ones the vendor operates in other parts of the world.
Hamidaddin claims such a move would not necessarily mean e-retail competes with its own customer base because the brand is part of its wider distribution portfolio.
As exclusively revealed in last month's issue of Channel Middle East, e-retail, which is being headed by Samer el Borhan, will initially target retail accounts in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
While e-retail will enjoy a strong level of support from Empa and MTC, the company is understood to have its own separate stocking facility and service centre in Jebel Ali.
The firm believes that customers in the retail sector require dedicated services and product lines to account for the unique nature of their business.
"The launch of e-retail will mark the beginning of a new chapter in consumer electronics retailing in the region," declared el Borhan.
