Bank Dhofar, Oman, is migrating sites at 47 of its branches from a Novell platform to Microsoft Windows 2003 in an effort to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency.
Migrating to Microsoft Windows 2003 provides Bank Dhofar with features comparable to existing Netware services as well as the added benefit of greater scalability, expandability, and industry-leading integration with desktop and collaboration software, according to the organisation.
"The financial services industry as a whole is facing the challenge of how to do more with less" said Ravi Khanna, head of IT at Bank Dhofar. "The Microsoft product is perfectly aligned to our vision at Bank Dhofar and our need to remain flexible in the face of future expansion. With centralised and robust management tools Microsoft Windows 2003 is easier to use and navigate, enabling our staff to work effectively."
"Our relationship with Microsoft evolved into a true partnership through the support we received specifically in helping us design our branch office with Microsoft Consulting Services," explained Khanna.
"Migrating to a new IT platform can take time and effort with many companies losing valuable money through the change cycle," he added.
