Symantec opens storage vault
Symantec has launched the latest version of its Enterprise Vault archive software solution.
Features of Enterprise Vault 7.0 include an automated e-mail classification engine, a user e-mail classification engine, and an enterprise content management integration system.
"The massive growth in electronic content has become a financial and legal challenge for all organisations," Francis deSouza, vice president of the Information Foundation Group at Symantec, said.
"Managing more than eight million mailboxes for nearly 5,000 customers worldwide, Symantec Enterprise Vault reduces IT and legal costs and information risk, while scaling to hundreds of thousands of users and billions of archived objects."
More efficient content management will become increasingly important, according to the Enterprise Strategy Group. The analyst firm said, worldwide, firms would archive 7,000 petabytes of e-mail in the next four years.
