Avaya to rally channel troops

Communications giant Avaya is preparing to give partners an update on its go-to-market strategy when it holds its largest ever-regional channel summit in Dubai at the beginning of next month.

The two-day event, which is aimed squarely at management and sales staff from its partners in the Middle East and North Africa region, will see Avaya outline its local plans for the year ahead. "It will be very channel focused," explained Roger El-Tawil, channel and marketing manager at Avaya MENA. "Some of the announcements will be about recognition and enhancements to our partner programme, and others will probably be new promotion incentives which we will launch."

This will be the fourth year that Avaya has hosted a regional partner conference and the vendor expects to draw a record number of attendees. "The event is growing year on year," said El-Tawil. "Three years ago we had 42 participants, the year after 90, and 160 last year. We hope to have 200-plus this year."

El-Tawil claims the expected rise in participation is down to Avaya's growing presence and reach into the SME and enterprise communities. It has also been expanding the level of business that it does with the service provider channel.
