The annual award was bestowed upon the manufacturer by Australian comparison site WhistleOut, highlighting phones based on a variety of categories.

Smartphone manufacturer Oppo announced on Monday that it was recognised as this year's top phone manufacturer by comparison site WhistleOut.

WhistleOut's awards recognise and highlight companies within the Australian telecommunications market that have consistently provided high-end products, services, and plans across a range of categories. This year's awards were reportedly judged by a team of editorial experts looking at price, performance, battery, screen, camera, design, and overall user experience of smartphones to pick the best smartphones and manufacturers of 2019.

WhistleOut's managing editor Alex Chorros was quoted in a statement as saying, "Oppo has matured immensely over the last 12 months. The company isn't trying to be anyone else, instead carving out its own identity as both a smartphone manufacturer and innovator. OPPO doesn't just follow trends, it sets them." He added that he believed the smartphone company was transforming the market.

Oppo MEA's president Andy Shi said, "We're extremely proud to have won these two awards from WhistleOut. It just goes to show our focus on redefining smartphone design and pushing the boundaries of what is possible is really resonating with consumers. To be the best phone manufacturer of the year is an amazing result and is a testament to the entire team in developing some of the best phones on the market today." He also expressed his belief on just how far OPPO has come, thanks to its focus on smartphone innovation and design.

"We know consumers want a full-screen display, good battery life and beautifully designed phones. The OPPO Reno 5G embodies this, offering a unique full-screen display thanks to its innovative shark-fin design camera, a huge battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology and is one of the best performing smartphones on the 5G network. We look forward to continuing to bring new devices to market that challenge the traditional design of smartphones," Shi added.

The brand doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon. Just this week, the manufacturer announced the ‘Waterfall Screen', which offers users a complete full-screen viewing experience thanks to its curved display.
