Facebook to push branding to WhatsApp, Instagram

The rebranding is meant to make Facebook's presence and involvement in the app family clearer, according to a spokesperson.

According to insiders familiar with the matter, Facebook—in an attempt to reinforce their brand throughout their family of products and services—would reportedly be making their ownership of Instagram and WhatsApp a touch more apparent. 

The company is said to put a tiny "by Facebook" tag below the two brands, like with their professional closed social network Workplace. Facebook spokesperson Bertie Thompson, elaborating on their rebrand decision, told The Information, "We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook."

The 'from Facebook' branding will be visible inside the apps—users will see it when they log on, for instance—and elsewhere, such as in app stores.
