Nokia 8110 now has WhatsApp in its feature store

HMD Global has announced that WhatsApp, the simple, reliable and secure messaging app, is now available on the Nokia 8110. The app can be downloaded from the Store. Now if you're wondering why this is a news story, that's because the 8110 is a feature phone that has the same old school flair but comes with a few additions.

Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, General Manager - Middle East, HMD Global, said: "We are committed to make technology accessible to all, by providing everyday solutions that help people thrive. Aligned with our believe in providing the best experience, the fans of the Nokia 8110 can now enjoy WhatsApp in our retro classic device. This will allow people to be connected to their loved ones through a device that, as the others in our portfolio, just keeps getting better with time."

The Nokia 8110 features tactile mechanics such as sliding the cover open to pick up calls and sliding it back to end them, as well as a design that allows for an addictive helicopter-style spin on its axis.

Powered by KaiOS, it also comes equipped with the Store, a home to KaiOS-powered apps, content and services that add to the user experience. This includes a suite of preloaded Google applications such as the Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Search as well as popular apps like Facebook.

"We're delighted that WhatsApp is now available on the widely popular 8110, enabling users to easily communicate with friends and family, both near and far," said Sebastien Codeville, founder and CEO of KaiOS Technologies. "Our mission is to provide affordable digital services to everyone, and this announcement marks a big milestone towards our goal."

With two colours to choose from, Traditional Black and Banana Yellow, the Nokia 8110 has everything you loved about the original including a revamped Snake game.
