Ankabut signs partnership with VMware
Ankabut becomes first dedicated VMware education service provider in the UAE
The UAE's academic research network Ankabut has signed a new partnership with VMware.
The Advanced National Research and Education Network, which is a long-standing VMware customer, also becomes a member of the VMware Cloud Provider Program. Ankabut is the first dedicated VMware education service provider in the UAE.
Ankabut provides cloud connectivity, IT infrastructure and managed services for 80 UAE member institutions to drive innovative educational services such as digital student records, project collaboration and virtual reality field trips.
The NREN uses VMware software-defined data centre and VMware NSX network virtualization solutions, to provide more secure data centre and public cloud services that can quickly, easily, and affordable scale up as their student population grows.
"We needed to build a digital foundation to support our vision of becoming the region's leading education service provider, while allowing academic institutions to reduce capital and operating costs. To help accelerate digital transformation within the education sector, this required advanced automation, a standard for sharing services and the adoption of a cloud computing approach with virtualization as its foundation. With VMware solutions, we are able to provide an innovative service to educational institutions that is flexible whilst reducing operational costs," said Fahem Nuaimi, CEO, Ankabut.
"Academic institutions are embracing cloud strategies to deliver services faster and more cost effectively. As an integral part of their digital transformation strategies, academic institutions worldwide are choosing VMware hybrid cloud solutions to overcome scalability, availability and budget challenges. We commend Ankabut for partnering with VMware to help modernize its IT delivery and improve its learning, teaching and research services," said Henri van der Vaeren, VP South Europe, Middle East & Africa at VMware.
