Huawei has shown its new foldable phone at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona.

The Huawei Mate X phone features an 8-inch screen when folded out.

Last week Samsung showed the first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, which has a 7.3-inch screen when extended.

The Huawei Mate X has a ‘Falcon Wing Mechanical Hinge', with a 6.6-inch smartphone screen that folds into a recessed body. This means the phone is not flat when fully opened, and both screens are on the outside of the device, rather than the inside like the Galaxy Fold.

The phone also includes 7nm multi-mode modem chipset Balong 5000, a high-capacity 4500mAh battery with support for 55W HUAWEI SuperCharge. Huawei says that the device will be the world's fastest 5G foldable phone.
