Smartphone vendor Xiaomi has launched a new sub-brand - the Pocophone - which has been optimised for mobile gaming.

The first device in the range, the Pocophone F1, will sell from 1249 AED, and has features optimised for gaming and photography.

The Pocophone F1 has a 4000mAh battery that can sustain eight hours of non-stop gaming, and runs on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 platform. It includes LiquidCool Technology cooling system, which enables sustained performance and 300% more effective heat dispersal than non-liquid cooling technology, the company says.

For cameras, the Pocophone has a 12MP AI dual camera with Sony IMX363 primary sensor with Dual Pixel Autofocus. The front camera is a 20MP featuring Super Pixel technology that combines the information of four pixels into one large 1.8µm pixel for clearer images with less noise. Both the rear and front cameras are supported by AI features for photos, such as AI Portrait, AI Beautify, and AI Scene Detection.

The phone runs a highly customized MIUI interface based on Android 8.1 Oreo, for lighter, faster, and smoother experience, including faster navigation and app launching.

Pocophone F1 has two versions: 6gb+64gb for 1249 AED and 6gb+128gb for 1349 AED.

Xiaomi has also released two new Android One devices, the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, which it says combine affordable price with premium design.

The Mi A2 includes a 12MP + 20MP rear AI dual camera and a 20MP front camera. It is driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with the powerful Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE). The slightly smaller Mi A2 Lite comes with 12MP + 5MP rear AI dual camera and a 4,000mAh large battery.

Both phones follow the Android One ethos of pure Android 8.1 out of the box. The unadulterated system offers the best Android experience with the latest Google software innovations such as smarter batteries that last longer by adjusting to user habits. Supported by Google Assistant and Google Lens.

Mi A2 Lite features a 5.84" FHD+ full screen display is able to be housed in a relatively compact body, making it very convenient for one-handed use. The screen also comes with useful features such as Auto Contrast, Reading Mode and Night Mode. The 2.5D glass screen is paired with a metallic-finish body, a unique look not found elsewhere in this device segment.

The Mi A2 has two versions: 4GB+64GB for 919 AED and 6GB+128GB for 1079 AED. Mi A2 Lite also comes two versions: 3GB+32GB for 619 AED and 4GB+64GB for 749 AED.
