Samsung may be planning smart home speaker
Smart speaker based on Samsung Bixby said to be in the works
Samsung could be preparing to launch a new smart home speaker based on the Bixby digital assistant.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Samsung may launch a rival to Amazon's Echo and Google's Home smart assistant speakers.
WSJ says it has seen a patent for the speaker, which was filed in November of 2017.
The speaker will include a touch screen display, with directional speakers that can point at the user. The cameras will also be equipped with facial recognition technology.
The report says the speaker will cost around $300, and that it may be launched on 9th August when Samsung unveils the new Galaxy Note smartphone.
