The launch of the latest update to the massively popular game Fortnite last week set new records for peak levels of traffic, according content delivery network Akamai.

The release of Fortnite Season 5 last Thursday set a new record of peak level traffic for a single video game, with peaks exceeding 37 Tbps across all platforms.

Akamai said that to put this into perspective, this level of traffic would be like downloading the average mobile game 2.8 million times per minute. The company added that this demonstrates both the continued success of Epic Games' hit title, and the power and resiliency of the Akamai Intelligent Platform.
