VMware picks new country director for Saudi Arabia
Saif M. Mashat brings almost two decades of experience in the regional IT industry
Saif M. Mashat is the new VMware Saudi Arabia country director.
In making the announcement, the enterprise software company said Mashat will be responsible for implementing and driving VMware’s growth and development across the country at a time when organisations are looking to simplify and accelerate their digital transformation in order to stay competitive.
“On behalf of VMware, I offer Mashat a warm welcome to the METNA leadership team,” said Ahmed Auda, managing director, METNA at VMware. “Mashat has a formidable track record in the IT sector as a first-rate strategist, innovator and inspirational leader, and I am sure he will make an immense contribution to our METNA operations and especially in Saudi Arabia.”
Mashat brings almost two decades of experience in the IT industry, having held leadership roles at IBM, SAP, Oracle and Microsoft in the region, as well as in a number of start-ups. He joins from IBM Saudi Arabia’s cloud business unit, where he oversaw an operation comprising of more than 40 professionals working across cloud services, software and technical sales.

Outside of work, Mashat plays squash at a national level and represented the Saudi national team for more than 13 years, and has held the Arab Championship in the ‘over 35’ category for the past three years.
