Toshiba honours top performing partners in MEA
Vendor pays tribute to channel partners at STARS Award event in Dubai
Toshiba Gulf FZE, the storage division and regional subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, recently honoured top performing distributors, retailers and resellers in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at the annual Toshiba STARS Award event in Dubai.
The Toshiba STARS Award is a prestigious prize given annually for each business unit to top performers in the distribution, retail and reseller category. The award has three category, Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Highlights at this year's awards in the HDD distributor category saw Al Futtaim Electronics LLC (UAE), Ashtel LLC (UAE and KSA); Mitsumi Distribution LLC (East and West Africa), and Mustek Limited in South Africa win the Gold Award.
Jarir Book Store in Saudi Arabia, Carrefour in UAE and Lulu in the GCC were recognised for the Gold Award in retail artner category. Global Computers LLC in the UAE won gold for top performance as a reseller.
Santosh Varghese, vice president and general manager - MEA, Toshiba Gulf FZE, Said: "During the FY17 Toshiba MEA had a phenomenal growth in the storage segment, mainly HDD with year on year growth exceeding 48%. Our record sales growth in 2017 is a result of our excellent product and channel sales strategy.
Varghese added that the Toshiba HDD recorded a very high market share of 31% in the UAE and 52% in Saudi Arabia. "The overall MEA market share was 30%. We had a 72% year on year growth in Africa and our ‘Go Wide Go Deep' strategy and ‘Go Africa' strategy helped in market expansion across the African continent," he said.
Hirohisa Fujiki, general manager, HDD Sales and Marketing Department, Toshiba Corporation, added that: "Toshiba aims to be a market leader in the HDD segment. We are targeting to increase share in each category from personal storage to enterprise storage. The Toshiba HDD range offers superb quality, reliability and technical expertise.''
Toshiba STARS award is part of company's annual MEA distributor conference for hard disk drive and this year the event was attended by 22 distributors across Middle East and Africa.
