Europe-based platform for audiobooks, Storytel, has launched in UAE.
Storytel's streaming service is similar to the movie streaming platform Netflix except that this service is for audiobooks and allows users to listen to unlimited audiobooks of all kinds through an App installed on their mobile phone.
Storytel is the first audiobook subscription service launching with a focus on both Arabic and English languages in the UAE and it will be available to users in all Arabic speaking regions.
According to the company, it is aiming to participate and drive the growth of the audiobook industry in the Arab World. Storytel added that the rise in subscription services and increased penetration of mobile broadband combined with a large percentage of the population moving to smartphones creates an environment that is conducive to increased consumption of stories on the go.
Storytel stated that it is committed to increasing Arabic titles in the catalogue significantly in the coming period. "The aim is to build the best and most extensive Arabic audiobook catalogue by launching at least one Arabic audiobook per day throughout 2018," the company said in statement.
Storytel is participating at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2018 from April 25th and May 1st 2018.
