New Fitbit smartwatch and fitness band for children
Fitbit announces two new devices include fitness band aimed at children
Fitbit has announced a new smartwatch and a fitness band for children.
The Fitbit Versa is a lightweight metal smart watch, running the latest Fitbit OS 2.0 with improved interface and personalized dashboard.
The Versa has Advanced health and fitness features like 24/7 heart rate tracking, onscreen workouts, and automatic sleep stages tracking, along with smart watch features such as quick replies on Android, wallet-free payments, and on-device music. The device will have a four-day plus battery life, Fitbit says.
The Fitbit Ace is a fitness band designed for children of 8 years and older. The Ace automatically tracks steps, active minutes and sleep, and includes features to encourage children to move, reward them for meeting goals, and motivates them for challenges between children and their friends and other family members. The Ace has a five-day battery life, with adjustable, showerproof wristband in two bright colours.
The Ace is also compatible with the new Fitbit family account, which allows parents to manage their children's privacy on the app using the Fitbit app.
"The challenge of inactivity with our children is not going away and is only estimated to get worse as they get older, dropping almost 40 minutes per year from ages 9 to 15," said Chris Watts, executive director of the National Fitness Foundation. "It is essential to provide parents with tools to help their kids be more active. Fitbit's solution offers more than just a way to track activity - it helps instill healthy habits from an early age, making it fun and rewarding to move more and empowers parents to make health and fitness a family affair."
The Fitbit Versa is available for presale today at AED 899, with global retail availability in April 2018. The Ace is also available for presale, at AED 399, and the device is expected in Q2 2018.
