The partnership is expected to usher in greater automation and efficiency for FEWA.

Etisalat Digital is to provide the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) with M2M connectivity solutions for its smart metering project.

Etisalat Digital’s M2M Control Centre solution will be used for FEWA Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project backhauling and communication by incorporating M2M connectivity and enabling the M2M portal for 24,000 smart meters. This is the first phase of FEWA’s complete smart metering project. M2M SIMs will be installed by Etisalat Digital in FEWA’s smart meters to automate data collection.

Alberto Araque, vice president, Internet of Things and Digital Payments at Etisalat Digital said the agreement was part of FEWA’s strategic objective to upgrade its services and enhance the happiness levels of customers across the Northern Emirates. “Etisalat Digital’s M2M connectivity solutions will bring in automation and efficiency empowering FEWA customers with advanced services. This is in line with Etisalat Digital’s strategy of driving the digital future by enabling our government partners with advanced digital solutions and services,” Araque added.
