Users have rejected an Apple Mac app that offered enhanced features in return for allowing the app to mine crypto-currency on their computers.

The Calendar 2 app from Qbix was recently updated so that users of the free app who wanted some of the features of the paid-for app could turn on mining for Monero.

The app, which was approved by Apple and available through the Mac App store, allowed users to disable the crypto mining, but users complained about bugs and slowed performance of their machines, the BBC reports.

Qbix said it has now disabled the mining functions due to the complaints and concerns about the ethics of mining.
