Microsoft avails mixed reality HoloLens headset in UAE
DEWA one of the early HoloLens adopters using the system for remote maintenance of its Smart Power Plant
HoloLens, the holographic mixed reality headset from Microsoft, is now available in the UAE.
Running on Windows 10, the self-contained headset is capable of generating interactive, HD, 3D images and overlay them on the physical environments. Mixed reality is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualisations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time
Onur Altintas, senior product marketing manager, Surface, Microsoft Middle East & Africa, said the HoloLens has the potential to empower customers and businesses do things that, until now, have never been possible. “We are excited to see how Microsoft HoloLens will be a revolutionary tool for all industries across the UAE – transforming how creators work with three-dimensional data to bring products and information to life.”
In the UAE, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is one of the early HoloLens adopters. Leveraged for visualisation of scenarios, consolidating information and remote maintenance of the Smart Power Plant, HoloLens is enabling DEWA to ensure rapid decision making, manage and forecast future demand, while improving energy efficiency and reducing power consumption.
