Eniverse launches drone delivery box
DoorBox will allow delivery drones to securely deliver packages to the door
Eniverse has demonstrated a potential drone delivery system, and unveiled a home delivery box at the LogiSYM Dubai logistics conference, which was held this week.
The technology group has partnered with Silicon Valley-based Skycart to develop an autonomous drone delivery, which Eniverse says is just waiting for permission from Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) before it will begin proof-of-concept testing.
Eniverse said it plans to work with Fetchr and the RTA to create a network of aerial delivery drones, that will be able to operate around the clock and guarantee delivery in thirty minutes or less.
Mohammed Johmani, founder of Eniverse, said in his keynote speech to LogiSYM: "As the first company to implement this new technology in the UAE, we are looking forward to receiving the approval sought from the DCAA to officially begin conducting business and solving the many problems associated with the traditional supply chain in today's fast-paced marketplace."
During the LogiSYM event, Eniverse launched another project which will form part of an end-to-end delivery system, the DoorBox. The company describes DoorBox as a fully-automated receiving box that is placed outside of the delivery destination, and is connected to the recipient's mobile device. The DoorBox owner can then remotely open the box to allow delivery drones, or human couriers, to deposit the delivery into the secure box.
DoorBox is intended to play an important part in the overall efficiency of the automated delivery chain, Eniverse said.
Darryl Judd, the Group Chief Operating Officer, Logistics Executive Group, "Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a key element in the development of smart logistics. I particularly appreciate the role of AI in developing autonomous drone technology. We definitely believe that Space Autonomous [Eniverse's drone business] is a revolution to all the logistic processes. I am pleased to see that the UAE is at the forefront of embracing this technology with the announcement of the new Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence."
