An online beauty competition seeking the most beautiful woman in south Kazakhstan instead found Arina Aliyeva-a man.

Real name ilay Dyagilev, Aliyeva was crowned ‘Miss Virtual Shymkent’ capital of the South Kazhakstan Region.  Aliyeva’s photo received 2,000 votes in the online-only competition, beating 4,000 other contestants.

Organisers promptly disqualified Aliyeva, after she confessed to be a man, for “providing unreliable information about herself”.

The regional title and place in the national final has been passed to second-placed Aikerim Temirkhanova.

Dyagilev, a fashion model, said the persona of Arina Aliyeva was “a project of my team.”

The Miss Virtual Kazakhstan Instagram post featuring Aliyeva has been liked thousands of times.
