Dubai Municipality has announced that Nexthink will be one of its key partners for AI and machine learning initiatives.

The Municipality has already deployed Nexthink's IT analytics solutions to manage over 5,000 desktop PCs, and the authority now plans to use data and analytics solutions from Nexthink to enable AI-based cybersecurity, IT management and other solutions.

Speaking to .GOV, Ahmad Al Emadi, Chief Information Security Officer, Dubai Municipality, said that the Nexthink solution and the data which it is generating is an important part of the Municipality's AI plans.

"The strategic vision of His Highness to set a UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence is a move in the right direction to transform the country into a global leader in innovation. Technology is a key component to support our rapid growth and delivery of new services. Nexthink is one of our key technology providers that give us the capability to view our IT infrastructure in real-time and understand human behaviour (employees) when interacting with our systems. The amount of data it generates is then translated into meaningful insights that help with achieving security compliance and make better decisions," he said. "We have a future plan with this platform, we are working on a project for machine learning and artificial intelligence, and this is going to be one of the most important data sources that will be fed into this platform," Al Emadi explained.

Data from Nexthink will be combined with other sources such as network operations data, server data, and then processed in a machine learning solution to give detail insight into the user environment. Dubai Municipality is already working with Nexthink's R&D team to ensure that the Nexthink solutions and data will be suitable for the project, and Al Ebadi said that the combined data sources and machine learning insight will provide a highly valuable source of business intelligence.

"We are planning to extract all of this data from Nexthink, as part of one of the sources, and bring it into this platform, where then we can introduce machine learning on top of that, to baseline and understand user behaviour," he said. "Machine learning and AI is going to have a massive impact on the business intelligence."
