Dubai's Careem unveils fashion e-commerce platform
Dukkan Careem will feature 100% locally sourced materials
Ride hailing app Careem is entering the fashion scene with its latest venture, dubbed ‘Dukkan Careem'.
The e-commerce site Dukkan, which means shop in Arabic, will sell only 100% locally sourced materials that are inspired by cultural designs.
Currently its Summer ‘Yalla Collection' is available, which features apparel made from cotton and polycotton material sourced from Pakistan with the sewing, embroidery and screen-printing carried out in the UAE. Dukkan Careem will launch its winter collection at Sole DXB on 7, 8 and 9 December, where attendees can purchase items.
Sporting the tagline ‘Culturally-inspired designs by our region's boldest creators', Dukkan Careem will showcase a range of t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and sweatshirt dresses, as well as children's t-shirts.
Behind Dukkan Careem is Zhila Shariat, head of Retail at Careem: "Careem's mission is to simplify and improve the lives of people in the region, and I am excited to be working on Dukkan Careem to help make this vision a reality. We wanted something our customers, captains and colleagues could identify with and feel proud owning."
Shariat added: "We want to collaborate with photographers, designers and all types of creative artists in the region for future collections which will only keep getting bigger. We can't wait for what lies ahead."
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder, Careem, said: "Dukkan Careem is an initiative that will work closely with and support local creators in the region - it's a chance to really get to know our community and co-create."
To make a purchase from www.dukkancareem.com, customers can select their product and delivery time, to which a Careem Captain will deliver the goods within an hour.
