Whitman quits as head of HPE
Meg Whitman to step down as CEO of HPE in January
HPE CEO Meg Whitman has announced that she will step down from the end of January.
Whitman, who has lead HPE for the past six years, will be replaced by company president Antonio Neri.
In an analyst call, Whitman said that HPE was in a much healthier position when she took over the company, and that it was time for a CEO with more of a technology background to takeover.
During her tenure, Whitman oversaw the breakup of Hewlett-Packard into Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and HP Inc, the PC and printer business of the company; as well as a number of corporate restructures and layoffs.
Whitman will stay on the board of HPE.
