Lenovo sets its eyes on artificial intelligence
Investing in its AI initiatives, Lenovo has partnered with researchers at North Carolina State University and University College London
As part of its participation at the annual Supercomputing 2017 event, Lenovo Data Group unveiled a range of new initiatives centred on developing its capabilities around artificial intelligence.
The company revealed that it would be working closely with its clients as they venture into AI, while also working closely with universities engaged in critical AI research. In the case of the latter, Lenovo has revealed that it has partnered with North Carolina State University (NCSU) and University College London.
Commenting on AI development, Kirk Skaugen, president, Lenovo Data Center Group, shared: "Artificial intelligence is already having a profound impact on traditional business strategies and scientific research, and most senior leaders consider it a priority for the year ahead.
"To truly benefit from the vast amount of data available to organizations today, our customers must embrace AI as the vehicle to help them achieve success in today's competitive business landscape. With our newly opened, global AI innovation centres and a comprehensive product and service portfolio we are committed to helping bring their AI deployments to life."
The company is expected to continue building upon its previously announced $1.2b investment in AI R&D, which resulted in the launch of the three new AI research centres based in US, Germany and China. To date, Lenovo has over 100 data scientists and specialised AI developers collaborating to devise novel AI-enabled solutions.
