Akamai wants to take down bots masquerading as humans with the latest addition to its Cloud Security product family.

The Akamai Bot Manager Premier helps organisations manage the impact of bots across their digital environment. Bot Manager Premier can detect bot activity disguised as human interactions, even if the bots continually modify behaviour to evade detection, while targeting login and other transactional pages, the company says.

The Bot Manager Premier is one several new technologies launched by the content delivery network (CDN) services provider, designed to offer an integrated approach to delivering digital services.

Hans Nipshagen, ‎regional sales leader for web & security EMEA at Akamai, noted that the web continues to become an ever more crowded space. Akamai alone serves over two trillion requests for web content every day and, as data becomes ever richer, and IoT continues to grow, this challenge isn’t going away on its own. “We are staying one step ahead by evolving our web performance tools to enable businesses to cut through the traffic and ensure an optimal experience for end users throughout the Middle East,” Nipshagen added.

Other solutions announced include the newly released ‘mPulse Lite’ – a free version of Akamai’s flagship digital performance management product which identifies opportunities to improve user engagement; enhancements to Ion  - Akamai’s flagship web and mobile performance acceleration suite – delivering greater cellular optimisation as well as an evolution of its of its Adaptive Learning Engine; and, extensions to its DevOps alignment initiative so that developers can leverage Akamai solutions without changing the way they work.

Akamai is also bringing the predictability of broadcast TV to online video. The company’s services such as multi-source media distribution; dynamic ad insertion; streamlined integration with cloud services; broadcast-quality ingestion and low latency with liveOrigin; and the ability to analyse data on telemetry from origin to viewer, enable it to optimise experience for its customers’ viewers.

Akamai is also enhancing its partnerships. The company has announced that its content delivery network capabilities will now be available in the IBM Cloud. The forthcoming offering is designed to optimise the performance of customers’ content and applications deployed and delivered using IBM Cloud. IBM Cloud customers will be able to purchase Akamai CDN offerings as “self-select” options in IBM’s Cloud portal.
