Aval: This new form of analytics is popular in US and European markets.

As companies around the world already know, gaining insights into customer behaviour is vital. While there are plenty of applications to give retailers of insights into the buying habits of their customers, gaining information about customer footfall in a physical space is more difficult to acquire.

But Dubai-based footfall analytics specialist Resemble Systems plans to change that. Nazeer Aval, CEO and founder of the company, which is a Microsoft Gold Partner, is busy meeting with interested parties to demonstrate the system and how it can help organisations from retailers to hospitals and airports.

The system relies on a "sole-sensor" mat, Microsoft Azure as the cloud platform that gathers the data, and Microsoft Power BI as the data visualisation tool.

"We are bringing smart floor analytics to this region," Aval tells Gitex Times. "This new form of analytics is quite popular in the US and European markets. The solution is to measure the customers' footfall in shops, passenger's footfall in airports and patients in hospitals and to really clearly understand the value of this space and we can optimise the space.

"Right now the challenge for organisations is not to just understand the footfall but also to understand their behaviour on the floor. If you take a look at an example in retail stores, you have promotional items and new arrivals, so the retail managers want to see what's going on in their stores. They want to have a heat map each day, week or quarter and match it with the transactions."

Resemble Systems is Based in Dubai and also has offices in Riyadh, Doha and Bangalore.
