Traweller prepares for take off at GITEX Future Stars
Includes flights, accommodation, tours, car rental and other combinations
Traweller, a marketplace for travel agents to sell their holiday packages that doubles as an online community for travellers to interact with fellow travellers planning a trip to the same destination, has debuted at GITEX Technology Week 2017.
The start up was exhibiting in the GITEX Future Stars area in New Zabeel Hall after being shortlisted in a competition run by the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing.
"It is kind of like skyscanner, but for holiday packages rather than just flights. So it includes flights, accommodation, tours, car rental and other combinations," explains Sandeep Vincent, co-founder and bucket list director, Traweller.
"It's based on what the travel agents provide, but travellers can filter results according to what combination they want or according to where they want to go, the kind of holiday they want and the travel style itself," he adds.
"There are no players like us in the region, so there's been a lot of interest ahead of our launch in mid-November," says Sween Rajan, co-founder and executive director, Traweller. "There's a lot of potential here because Dubai is a very fast-paced city and people want a holiday package that is quick and easy to find and book, they don't want to spend time searching for the best deal and by having them all on one portal, it makes it much easier."
Rajan adds that the community aspect of Traweller is what really sets it apart. "People who buy a particular package from a tour operator can choose to make it public and create a group, other travellers buying that package will then be able to choose whether they want to join the group," he explains. "This is especially good for solo travellers and turns the travel experience into a community as well as a marketplace." Traweller will launch on November 15th, 2017.
