TCL Communications launches BlackBerry Motion
The BlackBerry Motion will be available in the second half of October
A new BlackBerry smartphone has surfaced at this year's GITEX Technology Week 2017.
Dubbed the BlackBerry Motion, TCL Communications launched the all-touch smartphone which aims to offer reliability, productivity, privacy and security.
The smartphone is the first in the BlackBerry family to be IP67 water and dust resistance, and also features an anti-scratch display technology. With a hardened aluminium frame and soft-grip textured back, the 5.5-inch Full HD BlackBerry Motion promotes the concept of an everyday use smartphone.
The BlackBerry Motion boasts the largest battery ever to be used in a BlackBerry device. The 4,000mAh battery offers 32 hours of mixed use and with Qualcomm's Quick Charge Technology 3.0, a 40 minute charge boosts the battery life to 50%.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Android 7.1 Nougat and later this year it will be upgraded to Android Oreo, and it is designed with security in mind. The BlackBerry Motion includes the ‘Locker', an internal storage area where users can store documents and photos that can only be unlocked with either a PIN or fingerprint recognition feature.
Alain Lejeune, global general manager for BlackBerry Mobile, said: "The launch of BlackBerry Motion allows us to further diversify our product offering. While the initial launch of our newest BlackBerry smartphone will be limited, this is an exciting addition to our growing BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, setting a strong foundation for further portfolio and market growth in the years to come."
The BlackBerry Motion will be available in the second half of October for AED 1699 in the UAE and SAR 1699 in Saudi Arabia.
