ITA Oman concludes IT KIT children's IT program
The four week Oman IT KIT Initiative was held to help children increase their IT skills and interest them in the IT sector.

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) has successfully concluded its IT Kids Innovation Theatre (IT KIT) Initiative, a series of events held across the summer to encourage children to develop ICT skills.

The four-week program included training in IT skills, soft skills, and sessions to train young people in coding and to encourage girls to join the ICT sector.

The program was held in co-operation with Middle East College (MEC) and other public and private partners and supporters.

The second batch of the program saw 40 children from across the Sultanate participate in the main IT KIT, while 260 children participated in two-hour sessions on coding.

The program included technical and non-technical skill development under different fields, including digital media, application development, hardware skills and IT innovation, along with soft skills such as personal development, entrepreneurship and problem solving.

In addition to workshops, the program provided an opportunity for participating children to work in real environment and also included displaying the developed applications and innovations at the accompanying exhibition.

IT KIT also included a session, DG Girls, which featured women working in ICT, to connect them with girls to encourage them to take up careers in the ICT field.
