Mobile phone service subscribers reach 18.7 million in the UAE

The subscription base in UAE mobile phone services expanded 2.4% during H1 2017

Mobile phone service subscribers reach 18.7 million in the UAE
The total revenue from UAE telecommunications providers during H1 2017 summed up to AED 31.7bn.

UAE telecom Etisalat revealed that the subscription base in UAE mobile phone services has reached 18.7 million subscribers by the end of H1 2017.

The number of subscribers in the company's mobile services amounted to 10.5 million during the first six months of the year, a growth of 3% against the same period last year.

The UAE's Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, du, services hit 8.2 million by the end of June, with saw a growth of 1.5% during Q2.

News agency WAM reported that analysts say that mobile phone services represent the main source of returns for the telecommunications service providers, with 80% accounted as revenue.

The total revenue from UAE telecommunications providers during H1 2017 summed up to AED 31.7bn; Etisalat accounted for AED 25.3bn and AED 6.42bn for du.
