ITA hosts IT Kids Innovation Theatre
Summer program underway to encourage Omani children to develop ICT skills
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) is hosting its second annual ICT summer camp for children in Oman.
The IT Kids Innovation Theatre is held in co-operation with Middle East College and other public and private partners, with the aim of developing children's ICT capabilities and encouraging them to create their own IT solutions.
The program, which is being held at Knowledge Oasis Muscat, launched last week, and lasts for one month. Forty children from different parts of the Sultanate are taking part.
Participants in the program get training to enhance their skills in ICT, and they also work on projects to create real world services and products and encourage entrepreneurism.
The program includes technical and non-technical skill development under different fields, including digital media development; applications development including games and mobile apps; hardware and IT innovation including robotics, programming and other related application development; and along with soft skills development in the areas of personal development, interpersonal effectiveness, mind mapping, entrepreneurship development, security, HSE, and problem solving sessions.
The workshops will be complemented with the opportunity for children to visit real IT workplaces,
The program will close with an exhibition of the applications and solutions developed by the children, and a closing ceremony.
