Micromax cements product array in MENA

Mobile device maker takes aim at being in the top five in MENA

Mobile devices maker Micromax Informatics Ltd has launched Canvas 2, move the company said is aimed at strengthening its product portfolio in the region.

According to the vendor, Canvas 2 is the first smartphone in its price segment to come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The company also said it's planning to capture a bigger market share, aiming to be among the top five mobile players in the region, over the next two years.

Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax Informatics said: "MENA is an important market for Micromax and the region is expected to contribute a large chunk to our international market revenue in the next two years. We have a significant presence in most of the operational international markets and now our focus is on extending the brand's reach in the MENA market."

Jain said backed since the launch in mid-February 2017, the company's products are already available through local distribution in eight countries and would soon be expanding in other North African markets inluding Egypt. "We believe we are well prepared with the portfolio of products and that the products bring consumer expectations to life," he said.

Saihgal added that the company is working to build a very strong and deeply penetrated distribution network in the region that will help capture a significant share in the market. John Bayne, vice president and general manager, Corning Gorilla Glass, added that: "We are pleased to work with Micromax to bring the superior drop performance of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to their customers in United Arab Emirates.
