The TRA has advised Snapchat users to alter their app settings.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has warned against the potential dangers of Snapchat's newest update.

The photo messaging app has introduced ‘Snap Map' which reveals the user's location without their knowledge. Furthermore the update releases the geographical location of the user to their entire friends list but also to Snapchat users' around the world.

The TRA has warned that this update could potentially lead to dangerous encounters that may harm the privacy of individuals. The map itself is interactive which enables followers to click on any of the points, image or scene without notifying the user their location has been revealed.

The TRA has advised Snapchat users to alter their app settings by selecting the ‘only me' within the ghost mode section.
