Emirates eyes augmented reality goggles to personalise travel experience
Both passengers and staff can take advantage of the augmented reality goggles
Gulf carrier Emirates has announced its plans to equip staff with augmented reality (AR) glasses to personalise the travelling experience, as well as beat budget rivals.
The idea is that staff can use the AR-enabled glasses to offer a personalised experience to passengers as the glasses can display name and travel habits. Also, passengers can use the smart glasses to navigate around airports and browse food menus.
Emirates' chief Digital and Innovation Officer Christoph Mueller said: "The consumer will want to interact in a completely different way."
The Gulf carrier is facing competition from budget airlines, including Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, who are expanding their routes with the potential to take on the Gulf carrier market.
