Foxconn employees release leaks on upcoming Apple products
Alleged Foxconn employees have taken to Reddit to unveil details on Apple's future product line
Days before Apple's WWDC is due to begin, three alleged Foxconn employees have taken to Reddit and released disclosed information on Apple's upcoming products.
The extensive thread goes into detail about Apple's iPhone 7S and iPhone 8, the Siri speaker and smart glasses.
Though Reddit's moderators have verified the identities of the insiders, it is still advised the information should be taken lightly.
The Foxconn source revealed that production of Apple's next flagship device, which was referred to as iPhone X, has been delayed. Earlier reports suggested that the device is set to be released this year to coincide with Apple's 10th anniversary.
The thread also touched upon the over design of the phone, revealing that the new device will look "more like an iPhone 7 with glass and without the AuthenTec's capacitive touch module." Plus the rear camera has been redeveloped and the bezel will be thinner.
The posters also revealed that they have seen "test units with fingerprint scanners mounted below the glass, but performance and yield rates were not good." Also, the device will include Facial Detection and a Retina Scanner which will be compatible with the front camera.
The leaks suggested the device will have an aluminium unibody and it will not feature wireless charging.
The MacBook series is reportedly getting an entire refresh; "more glass and dark black body", and possibly a white Apple light.
Apple's CEO Tim Cook has previously talked of the company's investment in augmented reality and according to the insider, disclosed details of Project Mirrorshades. The glasses supposedly consist of "Kopin NED Acetate frame, Polarisised or prescription lens with Zeiss smart optics, Bone induction modules Microphones (noise cancellation), Light sensor Accelerometer for step tracking and head movement, app navigation Magnetometer for navigation, Capacitive Pavel Ceramic battery, Apple chipset, [and] Charging circuit BL5 Induction module."
They will also be released in colours crystal, champagne and black.
With this said, the Foxconn insider said that there is a 65% chance the project may be discontinued as the batteries are difficult to produce.
Rumours surfaced last week stating that Apple joining the likes of Google and Amazon by developing a voice-assistant speaker. Foxconn employees said that the shape may be similar to the Mac Pro, despite not seeing it. Plus Apple is supposedly testing three designs, "one design without camera, without screen," and all featuring a "modified A9 chip".
The thread should be taken lightly as Apple has not confirmed these leaks, plus the alleged Foxconn employees also reveal they have not seen all that has been disclosed.
Apple's WWDC event will began today in California.
