UAE makes the top ten most competitive countries worldwide list
The UAE secured a place among the world’s top ten most competitive nations
The UAE has secured a place in the top ten most competitive countries in the world list, according to the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook.
In 2016 the UAE was positioned in 15th place, but it has since moved by five places.
The IMD World Competitiveness Centre, based in Switzerland, researched 260 indicators, which includes national employment and trade statistics, as well as opinions based on issues surrounding corruption, environment concerns and quality of life.
In the region, the UAE scored 94.08, Qatar was placed in 17th poisiton and Saudi Arabia was in 36th place.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and ruler of Dubai, said on Twitter:
"Today the World Competitiveness year book was released in Switzerland; the UAE advanced 5 positions from last year, and now among the top 10
"The UAE ranked 1st in Quality of Government Decisions, Adaptability in Government Policy, and Supporting Technological Advancement.
"The UAE ranked 2nd in Business Efficiency & 5th in Economic Performance as stated by the International Institute for Management Development."
In first place, Hong Kong stayed in first place for the second year running, followed by Switzerland and Singapore. The United States was in fourth position and the Netherlands in fifth.
