Fortinet promotes its Security Fabric platform
Network security solutions vendor moves to raise awareness of its end-to-end security solution
Network security solutions vendor Fortinet, said it used its participation at the Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) 2017, to promote and raise awareness around its Security Fabric platform.
The company said the Fortinet Security Fabric allows security to dynamically expand and adapt as more and more workloads and data are added.
Zacky Vaz, channel manager, Fortinet Middle East, said given the evolving threat landscape and the sophisticated attacks that are being launched now, traditional IT security that protects the network parameters and secures end points is not enough.
Vaz said that's why the company used its appearance at GISEC to spread the messaging around the Fortinet Security Fabric and how partners and their end user customers can acquire the needed skills to be success with these offerings. "Organisations today require a fast and secure network to be successful," he said. "Whether or not an organisation has the right protection immediately responding to threats throughout its network can determine if the business runs smoothly or is the victim of a security breach."
He said Fortinet is one of the few IT security vendors with security solutions for network, endpoint, application, data centre, cloud, and access designed to work together as an integrated and collaborative security fabric. "This also means that we can truly provide a powerful, integrated end-to-end security solution across the entire attack surface," he said. "To enable an effective defence, the data and security elements across all of an organisation's various environments must be well-integrated, able to share intelligence, and visible."
Vaz said the Fortinet Security Fabric gives channel partners and their end user customers in the region control, integration, and easy management of security across the entire organisation, from Internet of Things (IoT) to the cloud. "The role of the network in any business strategy is more important than ever, and ensuring it is both fast and secure is critical for any organisation's success," he said.
He said having an effective security strategy for the entire network can determine whether a business running a smooth, safe operation or about to become the latest security breach headline. "While cyber threats are becoming more powerful, networks are becoming more disjointed and complex, hence we used our participation at this year's show to help raise awareness about our Security Fabric at channel and end user level," he said.
Fortinet's Security Fabric allows security to dynamically expand and adapt as more and more workloads and data are added, and at the same time, seamlessly follow and protect data, users, and applications as they move back and forth between IoT, smart devices, and cloud environments throughout the network.
The Fortinet Security Fabric is built around three key attributes namely broad, powerful and automated.
Vaz added that the Security Fabric covers the entire attack surface and security can be applied to the network, endpoints, access, applications, and cloud. He said in addition, the security fabric uses security processors to reduce the burden on infrastructure, delivering comprehensive security without affecting performance.
He pointed out that by being automated, the company's security fabric enables a fast and coordinated response to threats. "All elements can rapidly exchange threat intelligence and coordinate actions," he said.
