Honeywell unveils real-time freight monitoring tech
The solution will give shippers and logistics firms greater visibility over high-value and perishable goods.
Global industrial technology firm Honeywell has launched its new Connect Freight solution, designed support shippers and logistics firms in monitoring high-value and perishable goods.
Edmond Mikhael, general manager for Honeywell SPS in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META), said: "Honeywell is developing a range of Connected Supply Chain solutions that leverage technology and data to make supply chains more efficient, better able to adapt to rapid change, and in turn, support the Middle East's economic growth."
He added: "For an important and growing sector in the region, the convenient cloud-based solution allows shippers, logistics providers, retailers and others faced with a host of costly freight challenges, such as theft, damage, spoilage and delays, with detailed analytics. This enables customers to plan, anticipate and react immediately to incidents that occur during shipment."
Created in close collaboration with Intel and third-party logistics firms, which comprise of DHL, Expeditors, and Kuehne + Nagel, the solutions provides real-time data of the location and condition of the freight in transit.
Unveiled during the Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions' launch event, the Honeywell Solution is able to monitor changes within the environment, such as changes in temperature and increases in vibration and shock. This is accomplished via the use of cost-effective sensor tags.
