JadoPado founder Omar Kassim has quit his newly appointed role as chief technology officer at e-commerce platform Noon.com.

In a statement to Zawya, Kassim said: "I decided to step down from my role at Noon as of earlier today," he said. "I wish the entire team the very best and hope they go onto building a world class product and organisation."

He added: "I would like to thank the team at JadoPado who've been awesome as we've made the transition. It's been a pleasure getting to know and work with every single one of them. I wish all of them the very best with everything that they're doing today and go onto doing in the future."

Only this week sources close to the matter revealed that dozens of employees in Dubai were let go and chief executive officer Fodhil Benturquia no longer worked at the company. Bloomberg also reported that employees from various departments, including contractors and vendors were let go, however some hiring is still taking place.

Noon, the e-commerce venture between Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Alabbar and Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), will go live this year and will be based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
